2.1.0
3 11 2026
Hello, Skinmatics 2.1 has released! This patch can be considered small for regular user since I'm rewriting major codebase (again). Don't worry, your avatar profile is still fine.
Core Changes
Avatar To Avatar Profile
We renamed 2.0 avatar to avatar profile, since avatar by itself is too ambiguous, and can lead to many misunderstanding. Avatar profile will refer to the avatar file or the content of the avatar file. Additionally, avatar profile will also have a different data structure. You don't have to worry about your current avatar file, they are migrated.
Avatar Feature
Avatar feature is a compacted customization option that allow other developers to add their own customization option with Skinmatics.
All customization features (body, cape, wings, eyes, lights) will be turned to avatar features.
Customization Screen
The customization only serve to quick add/remove, hide/unhide avatar features, and save the avatar profile (to update the avatar file). That's the only purpose and we don't have plan to add anything new.
Documentation Page Revamp
Skinmatics documentation page has moved to another section. You can read it here
License Change
Skinmatics is going open source! The source code will be MIT License, but the assets still remain All Rights Reserved unless explicitly stated.
Skinmatics is open to contribution too!
Version Port
This version will have be ported to Minecraft version 26.2, 26.3, and 26.4 before working on 2.2. The 26.1 Minecraft version is still the main development version for now.
2.2 Foresight
We already have plans for 2.2. As 2.2 plan was originally going to be 2.1, but we decided to postpone it due to the disatisfaction with the 2.0 framework.
2.2 will add the following contents:
- Custom 3D Models
- New avatar feature
- New avatar packs (for demonstrative purposes)
The 2.2 release is planned to be somewhere in Q1 of 2027.
